Wasim Jaffer On Virat Kohli: The 15th season of the Indian Premier League is proving to be a nightmare for Virat Kohli. So far this season, he has been out on the first ball three times. At the same time, his batting average is also less than 20. Meanwhile, former head coach of Team India, Ravi Shastri had advised him to take a break from cricket. Now another Indian legend has suggested him to take rest.

33-year-old Virat Kohli has scored just 216 runs in 12 matches in IPL 2022 at an average of 19.64 and strike rate of 111.34. Kohli suffered another setback in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, in which he was once again dismissed for zero. In view of his form, former India opener Wasam Jaffer has suggested him to take a break after IPL 2022.

Wasim Jaffer said in a conversation with a Hindi news channel, “The way Kohli has been out in the last few matches, it seems that he is tired of playing too much cricket. The last six months have been very difficult for him, because he Resigned from Test and T20 captaincy and was asked to step down in ODIs as well. After going through all these things, he is playing in IPL and hasn’t been able to score much for RCB, which of course affects one’s mindset. So, I would suggest that after IPL 2022, Kohli takes a break of four to six weeks and comes back mentally refreshed.”

He further said that he does not have the burden of captaincy, so I think whenever he comes after the break, he will be in a better mental state, because he will now focus on his performance instead of thinking about the selection issues. I definitely think he should take a break in the South Africa and England series and then come back to play in the Asia Cup.”

It is worth noting that earlier, former India head coach Ravi Shastri had also advised Kohli to take a break. He had said that if Kohli wants to expand his cricket career, then he should be out of IPL 2022.
