Agnipath Scheme: The decades-old defense recruitment process in India was changed on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Describing this change as a historic decision, the government has named it Agnipath Scheme. Under this scheme, now the term of the soldiers who are recruited in the army will be four years. This recruitment of soldiers will be done on contract basis. At the same time, the age limit of soldiers for selection has been kept between 17.5 years to 21 years. They will be named ‘Agniveer’.

The government is claiming that this scheme will bring a big change in the three armed forces. But the opinion of defense experts is opposite and they do not consider it the right option for recruitment in the army. Ex-Servicemen of the Armed Forces have given a mixed reaction to this scheme. On the other hand, with the announcement of this scheme, this decision of the government is being fiercely opposed by the candidates of the army in different states. Many former military officers have started questioning this plan.

Retired Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia said, ‘Agneepath scheme or ‘Tour of Duty’ is not tested, no pilot project, being implemented directly. not a good idea. On the other hand, retired Group Captain Nitin Welde, who has served in the Indian Air Force (IAF) for the last 22 years, while talking about this scheme said that at the moment it is too early to criticize or appreciate this scheme, we should give some time to see

Monthly Venn for the first year will be Rs.30,000

According to the scheme, the monthly salary for the first year of Agniveer, who is recruited under the process in the army, will be Rs 30,000, but only Rs 21,000 will come in his hand. At the same time, nine thousand rupees per month will go to a government fund, in which the same amount will be deposited by the government. At the same time, the salary of the soldier will be Rs 33,000 in the second year, Rs 36,500 in the third year and Rs 40,000 in the fourth year. Under the Agneepath scheme, about 46,000 soldiers will be recruited in the three services this year. The eligibility age for selection will be between 17 and a half years to 21 years.

Let us tell you that while on one hand the government is quite confident about this scheme, on the other hand this new scheme is being opposed across the country. In Bihar, demonstrations are being held in protest against this by arson of tires, stone pelting and jamming the NH.
