Asia Cup 2022 Sridharan Sriram Bangladesh: Former India cricketer Sridharan Sriram, who became the technical advisor to the Bangladesh team, on Friday said the experience of coaching the Australian national team and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will help him carry out his new assignment. Sriram will be associated with the Bangladesh team in the upcoming Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup to be played in Australia in October. The 46-year-old former player said that he is very clear about his responsibilities with Bangladesh.
Sriram was appointed the spin bowling coach of Australia in 2016 under the then head coach Darren Lehmann. He also served as the batting and spin coach of RCB in 2020.
According to the news of ‘The Daily Star newspaper’, Shriram said, “I think it (my role) is very simple and I am very clear about my work here, I will probably have to mobilize all the resources. We have some very well-skilled coaches. I am sure they will do their job brilliantly. I have to work with the captain, team director and skill trainers.
“By bringing these three departments together, I have to strategize using the experience of IPL and T20 cricket in Australia. A strategy where we can use our resources properly. I am not saying that I am leading the team and I am just trying to cooperate.
Sriram, who has scored over 9,000 runs in first-class cricket and is recognized as a prolific batsman, said that he does not want to miss his playing days during his coaching work. “I forgot the fact that I was a player and it doesn’t matter how many runs you scored because at the end of the day I’m here to help other people and that’s my biggest strength,” he said. And I don’t remember the past. This frustrates me.”
