West Bengal ED Raid: The ED team has raided Arpita Mukherjee’s residence at Fort Oasis on Panditia Road in West Bengal. The ED team went to Arpita Mukherjee’s residence after going to the Ravindra Sarovar police station. Earlier, the ED has placed before the court the material showing the financial links of Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee. The agency told the court that Arpita Mukherjee, during her interrogation, had told her about the bank account of M/s APA Utility Services in which both had a 50-50 partnership and the deed was executed in 2012.

On Wednesday, the ED also raided a farmhouse in Santiniketan. ED officials had said that Chatterjee and Mukherjee had jointly bought the plot in 2012, while in 2020 the mutation was done in the name of Arpita Mukherjee. Former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee, arrested on charges of money laundering, are in Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till August 5. A Kolkata court had sent him to ED custody on Wednesday.

ED arrested Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee

Chatterjee and Mukherjee were arrested on July 23 for their alleged involvement in a multi-crore recruitment scam in government schools in West Bengal between 2014 and 2021. Partha Chatterjee was the education minister of the state at the time of the scam. The ED also found more than 50 crore cash and gold from Arpita Mukherjee’s houses in the raid.

Partha Chatterjee kicked out of cabinet

After his arrest, Partha Chatterjee was thrown out of the cabinet by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Former minister Partha Chatterjee had denied involvement in the scam, insisting that the cash allegedly recovered by the ED did not belong to him.
