Bharat Jodo Yatra: Will Rahul Gandhi’s much awaited ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ pass through Rajasthan peacefully? This appears to be a burning question, as warnings, protests and factionalism are threatening the success of the yatra in the desert state. The yatra passed through states like Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra ruled by non-Congress governments in a peaceful manner. However, the situation in Congress-ruled Rajasthan remains worrying as party functionaries in Hadauti region have demanded the high command to resolve the leadership issue before the Bharat Jodo Yatra enters the desert state in the first week of December.

The office-bearers who are demanding to make Sachin Pilot the Chief Minister include three members of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee – Suresh Gurjar, Rakesh Boyat and Satyesh Sharma. Three RPCC members are from Jhalawar, Kota and Bundi respectively. He has said in a message sent to the high command that if the government is to be formed again in Rajasthan in 2023, there is still time to make Pilot the CM before Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

Meanwhile, Vijay Bainsla, son of Kiroro Singh Bainsla, the patron of Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, has warned that the yatra will not be allowed to enter Rajasthan due to no solution yet to the Gujjar reservation dispute in Rajasthan. Vijay Bainsla, head of Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, has warned that Rahul Gandhi’s visit will not be allowed to enter Rajasthan if all the demands related to reservation for Gujjars are not met. There is a program to travel through about 40 assembly constituencies dominated by Gujjars.

Responding to Bainsla’s warning, Kisan Morcha Rajasthan has said that such statements should not be made for political gains. It added, “If they create any obstruction, lathis will be used.” Meanwhile, despite Pilot being close to Rahul Gandhi, he has not been assigned any responsibility by the state government or the party regarding Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Rajasthan. In contrast, Dharmendra Rathore, who was recently given a notice for indiscipline, is in a leading role in the team preparing for the yatra. Both Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Pilot have joined the yatra in other states, but not together.
