Chennai Police Raid: Chennai Police on Tuesday morning carried out searches at the residences of 4 suspects linked to NIA cases, with a raid at a location in Muthialpet PS limits resulting in the seizure of Rs 4,90,000 in cash and foreign currencies. Electronic gadgets, credit cards, debit cards have also been seized. Police raid continues.
The Chennai City Police on Tuesday, 15 November, conducted searches at the homes of people suspected of allegedly helping members of the Islamic State (IS). Searches are being conducted at various places in Chennai and its outskirts. Police officers are searching houses on the outskirts of the city, including Kodungayur, Muthuyalpet and Mannadi, among other places. Police has recovered cash worth Rs 15 lakh during the raid. They have also seized 150 cellphones and other digital gadgets.

Last week raids were done at 40 places
Earlier last week, the National Investigation Agency raided 40 locations in Tamil Nadu on November 10 to nab alleged IS sympathizers. On the same day, the Chennai police tracked down three men who were suspected after evading the police during questioning and fleeing.
One of the policemen, who tried to stop him, grabbed his bag, which allegedly contained IS letters with details of the chemicals needed to make explosives allegedly taken from a YouTube tutorial video and instructions for making and detonating bombs. There was information about the plan. The group was later traced using the registration of the bike.
Police has started a detailed investigation.
