West Bengal: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting her to intervene to release the amount of MGNREGA and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Banerjee said in the letter that her Due to non-availability of funds, the government has not been able to pay even the wages for almost four months.
He said that it is very surprising that the Government of India is not releasing funds to West Bengal for MGNREGA and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Banerjee said that in West Bengal, the payment of wages is pending for more than four months as the Government of India is not releasing an amount of about Rs 6500 crore to the state.
How many villages have been made in West Bengal under PM Awas Yojana?
Out of this, an amount of 3000 crores is to be received under the head of wages, while the remaining Rs 3500 crores is to be received under the head of non-wage. He underlined that West Bengal has been at the top position in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana since 2016-17 and more than 32 lakh houses have been constructed so far.

The Chief Minister said that considering the importance of the projects and the problems being faced by the common people, I request you to take your immediate intervention and direct the concerned ministries to release the amount without delay.
