Petrol Diesel Tax Cut Demand: Sanjiv Bajaj, president of the business chamber CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), has demanded a reduction in tax on petrol and diesel. Strongly advocating for reduction in tax on petrol and diesel, Sanjeev Bajaj said that the tax on petrol and diesel should be reduced in a collaborative manner between the Center and the states to check rising inflation.

Sanjeev Bajaj said that when there was a huge reduction in the prices of crude oil in the international market, it was decided to increase the tax on petrol and diesel. But because now the prices are high, the tax should be reduced back. He said that rising fuel prices are the main reason behind the rise in inflation. Due to this the prices of petrol have increased. He said that the effect of inflation can be seen on the ground, so it needs to be given immediate attention.

There is a higher tax on petrol diesel
The CII President said, we know that both the Center and the states charge a lot of taxes. Taxes were increased when the price of crude oil was reduced. But now that oil prices have increased, we believe that this needs to be discussed in favor of the country.

How much tax does the government collect
Before 4 November 2021, the Modi government was charging Rs 32.90 per liter excise duty on petrol and Rs 31.80 per liter on diesel. In view of the elections in five states, the government had reduced the excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10 from the day of Diwali. Despite this, excise duty of Rs 27.90 is being charged on petrol and Rs 21.80 on diesel.
