CM Hemant Soren Disqualification: Today is a big day for the politics of Jharkhand. A decision is about to be taken on the political future of the state’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Governor Ramesh Bais will take a decision on whether the chair of CM Hemant Soren will survive or go. In fact, the Election Commission has recommended the cancellation of Soren’s membership in the mineral scam case.
Why the recommendation to cancel Hemant Soren’s membership
The opinion sent by the Central Election Commission in a closed envelope has raised alarm bells for the Hemant government. Governor Ramesh Vaish can take a big decision today regarding the recommendation of the Election Commission. Hemant Soren has been found guilty of violating Section 9A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Therefore it is recommended to cancel their membership. In such a situation, the CM’s chair of Hemant Soren is now under threat.
What are the allegations against Hemant Soren
The BJP delegation had alleged in February 2022 that Soren had taken a mining lease in his name in Anagada, Ranchi, hence a demand was made to cancel his assembly membership. The matter is related to mining leases related to CM Hemant Soren and the stake of his and his close ones in shell companies. It is alleged that CM Hemant misused his position to get the Stone Quarry Mines allotted in his name. The Soren family is also accused of acquiring huge assets by investing in a shell company. This matter went to the Supreme Court and the Election Commission and now the decision of the Election Commission has reached Rajpal Bhavan. In the midst of this, JMM’s question is how the decision of the sealed envelope came out.
