Varanasi Gyanvapi Masjid: The commission appointed for the videography-survey work of the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi district will seek additional time of two-three days from the court to submit its report. Assistant Advocate Commissioner Ajay Pratap Singh has given this information on Tuesday. Singh said, “As per the order of the court, videography-survey work of Gyanvapi Masjid complex was carried out from 8 am to 12 noon between 14 and 16 May. The report related to the survey was to be presented in the court on May 17.
However, he added, “We are not submitting the report in the court today (Tuesday), as it is not ready. We will seek additional time of two-three days from the court. We will present the report in whatever time the court gives.” Earlier, lawyers representing the Hindu side had on Monday claimed that a Shivling was found in the mosque premises during the videography-survey work mandated by the court.
A local court on Monday, hearing a plea filed by the Hindu side, ordered sealing of the part of the Gyanvapi mosque complex where the Shivling was allegedly found. On the other hand, a member of the committee that manages the Gyanvapi Masjid refuted this claim, saying, “It has been a tradition in the Mosques of the Mughal period to put a fountain inside the Wazhu Khana. A stone of the same has been found in the survey today, which is being told as Shivling.
Shivling is not a fountain
Syed Mohammad Yasin, joint secretary of Anjuman Inazaniya Masajid Committee, had alleged that the side of the mosque management was not heard before the order was passed by Civil Judge (Senior Division) Ravi Kumar Diwakar. In fact, Rais Ahmed Ansari has said that the fountain has not been found in the Vazukhana of Gyanvapi Masjid. A fountain has been found at the place where the Hindu parties are claiming to have found a Shivling, which is bad. This is a misleading claim. He said that he is not satisfied with this order of the court in which the court has ordered to seal the vazukhana. He says that the court has given the order in haste. We will challenge this order.
