Indian Cricket Team: There has been an update regarding the injury of Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar. It may take about four to five weeks for Chahar to recover completely. Chahar could not play the 15th season of IPL due to injury. Chahar was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore in the mega auction. Chahar was injured in the series against West Indies in February.
Players being rehabbed in NCA
Chahar and another centrally contracted cricketer Washington Sundar are recovering from a hand injury. Both these players are undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) along with T Natarajan. Spin all-rounder Washington is set to travel to England to represent England’s county side Lancashire.
Will get fit soon
According to BCCI sources, Washington is close to full fitness and will need to spend time in the field to regain the momentum that he will get only in red-ball cricket. He is going to play for Lancashire. This will keep him in a better position.
Chahar looked in good shape today during his morning session at the NCA. After his rehab session, he said that according to my rehab schedule, I am doing four to five overs bowling exercises at a time. My recovery is going very well. I think it will take four to five more weeks for me to get the fitness I need for the match.
club level matches
The Rajasthan pacer admitted that it would not be possible for him to be fit until India play the T20I series against England in the second week of July. As far as recovery is concerned, it is a continuous process, he said. I don’t think I will be fit for England T20. Once I am match fit, I will have to play some club level matches to check my fitness.
Chahar can go on this tour
Chahar has expressed hope that he will regain fitness before the West Indies tour. He said, I can’t say so clearly but I will definitely try to get fit till then. India has to play three ODIs and five T20 matches in the West Indies from 22 July to 7 August.
