On Saturday, Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar reviewed the preparations for the 12th edition of ‘Def-Expo 2022’ going to be held in the country. Gujarat Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar also participated in this meeting, including senior officials of the Ministry of Defense. After the meeting, the Ministry of Defense issued an official statement saying that the 12th Defense Exhibition is the first edition exclusively for Indian companies. So far more than 1,000 companies have registered for this event and registration is still on. In such a situation, this Defense-Expo is going to be the biggest expo ever.

During the meeting held on Saturday, Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar urged the officials to make efforts towards making DefExpo 2022 a huge success, focusing on trade and export promotion of indigenous defense platforms and products.

The theme of the exhibition is ‘Make in India, Make for the World’

The theme of this year’s edition of the Defense Exhibition, which is held in the country once in two years, is ‘Path to Pride’ and it aims to transform India into a world by supporting, showcasing and partnering with Indian and global customers for Indian aerospace and defense manufacturing. It is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a strong and self-reliant nation. The main objective of the exhibition is to showcase the strength of the domestic defense industry and at the same time strengthen the resolve of ‘Make in India, Make for the world’.

  • The 12th edition of the Defense Exhibition will be organized for the first time in a four-venue format from 18-22 October 2022 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, to engage the masses and enable them to engage in aerospace and defense manufacturing for ‘self-reliance’ in defence. promises to inspire.
  • The opening ceremony and seminar will be held at Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Center (MMCEC).

  • Keeping in mind the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, DefExpo 2022 is trying to improve upon its previous edition. For this, the largest ever total area of ​​more than one lakh square meters (previous edition 76,000 square meters) is being built for the exhibition space.
  • The biggest drone show will also be organized by IIT Delhi’s start-up Botlabs, which will be another highlight of the mega event.
  • The auction of the venue started on 15 August 2022 and till date, more than 1,000 exhibitors have registered and this number is the highest ever recorded during the previous editions of DefExpo.

Let us tell you that DefExpo 2022 was earlier scheduled from 10 -14 March 2022. But it was postponed due to the logistical challenges faced by the companies due to the Russo-Ukraine War.

The second edition of the India-Africa Defense Dialogue (IADD) will also be hosted in this defense exhibition to be held in Gandhinagar, in which 53 African countries have been invited. A separate Indian Ocean Region Plus (IOR+) conference will also be held with the participation of around 40 countries.
