CM Who Became Deputy CM: The ongoing political crisis in Maharashtra came to an end today. After Uddhav Thackeray resigned from the post of CM on the previous day, it was clear that the government of BJP and Eknath Shinde and rebel MLAs is going to be formed. It was also clear that if the new government is formed, the CM will be Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde can be made the deputy CM, but today something happened that no one would have thought, especially in Maharashtra. Former CM Devendra Fadnavis.

Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis went to the Raj Bhavan and proposed to the Governor to form the government. After this, both of them held joint talks in which the announcement was made which no one had even imagined. Devendra Fadnavis said in PC that Eknath Shinde will be the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

First announced to stay out of government, then became Deputy CM

Fadnavis also said that he would stay out of the government. However, after some time there was an announcement from BJP which said that Devendra Fadnavis has accepted the post of Deputy CM on the request of the top leadership of BJP. After this, the Governor made Eknath Shinde the CM post and administered oath to Devendra Fadnavis as Deputy CM. With this, the name of Devendra Fadnavis was included in the list of leaders who were also CMs and held other ministerial posts in the state government besides the post of CM.

These are the leaders who became Deputy CM and Minister apart from CM

If we talk about such Chief Ministers who have been Deputy Chief Ministers and Ministers in the State Government, then there are many names in this list. The latest name in this list today is that of Devendra Fadnavis. On the other hand, O Panneerselvam, Babu Lal Gaur, Ashok Chavan etc. are some of the names that have joined this list in the last few years.

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam

First of all let’s talk about O Panneerselvam. O Panneerselvam is a former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and a senior leader of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). He has been the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu thrice. Once in 2001-02 when Jayalalithaa was barred from holding office by the Supreme Court, second time in 2014-15 when Jayalalithaa was convicted in the disproportionate assets case and the third time in 2016-17. O Panneerselvam took over as CM after his death. He resigned from this post two months later. After Panneerselvam and team captured the ADMK, he became the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Another leader of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan’s name also included.

Apart from Fadnavis, another big leader of Maharashtra, Ashok Chavan is also named in this list. Ashok Chavan is one of the most influential leaders of the Congress. He also served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from December 2008 to November 2010. In fact, after the November 2008 Mumbai attacks, Vilasrao Deshmukh took moral responsibility and resigned, following which Chavan was elected as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Earlier in 2003, he was a cabinet minister in the Vilasrao Deshmukh government in Maharashtra and later in 2019, he was also a cabinet minister in the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Babulal Gaur was also a cabinet minister after becoming CM.

The name of late BJP leader Babulal Gaur is also in this list. Babulal Gaur was a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who was the 16th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. In fact, Karnataka’s Hubli court had issued an arrest warrant against the then Chief Minister Uma Bharti in the 1994 Hubli riots case, after which she resigned from the chief minister’s post. Gaur was followed by him as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from 23 August 2004 to 29 November 2005. After this, Shivraj Singh Chouhan became the Chief Minister in November 2005. In 2008, Shivraj Singh Chouhan again became the CM and Babulal Gaur was a minister in his cabinet.

So these are some of the names where Chief Ministers also worked as Deputy CMs or other ministers in the state government. At the same time, after taking oath as the Deputy CM of former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, his name also got included in this list.
