Indian Railways Vivek Express: There is no delay in catching the speed of rapid train in the country, but a train of Indian Railways which has the distinction of being the longest distance superfast train. This train is known as Dibrugarh – Kanyakumari Vivek Express. This express train is the longest running train in the country. As a weekly train, it runs for about 83 hours in eight states of India. During this it covers a distance of more than 4,200 km. So here we are going to tell you about its features.

Vivek Express is one of four pairs of express trains on the Indian Railways network. These trains were started on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The Vivek Express trains were announced by the then Railway Minister Mamta Banerjee in the Railway Budget for the year 2011-12. Dibrugarh – Kanyakumari Vivek Express has a unique place in the history of Indian Railways. The name of this train is the last recorded record of stopping its services during the Kovid epidemic. At the time when the entire Indian Railways passenger services came to a standstill in March 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic and the subsequent national lockdown, the train was still on track. Along with this, it also holds the record for being the 24th longest train service in the world.

It runs from Dibrugarh in Assam’s North Eastern State of India to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu to the southern end of the country. In 74 hrs 35 mins the train covers a distance of 4,218.6 kms and passes through eight states of India. At present, this train is the train running on the longest railway track in India both in terms of distance and time.

Vivek Express train covers the longest rail route in India and passes through eight Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam.
A diesel engine is used in one part of the journey and an electric engine is used in the other.
At Durgapur Railway Station and Visakhapatnam Junction, the train does loco reversal.
