Gujarat ATS Detained Teesta Setalvad: The team of Gujarat ATS has detained activist Teesta Setalvad. Earlier, the team of Gujarat ATS had reached Teesta Setalvad’s residence in Juhu, Mumbai in connection with the case related to his NGO. Teesta Setalvad was taken from her residence to the Santacruz police station. After this paperwork took place and Mumbai Police checked all the documents given by Gujarat Police. ATS is now taking them to the Ahmedabad Crime Branch office.

Let us tell you that, on the previous day, the Supreme Court, while hearing the petition filed by Zakia Jafri against giving clean chit to PM Narendra Modi from the SIT in the 2002 Gujarat riots case, dismissed it. The court ruled that Zakia Jafri’s application has no merit. The court upheld the 2012 order by the Gujarat magistrate accepting the SIT report. At the same time, the court had said that Setalvad, a co-petitioner in the case, has exploited the feelings of Zakia Jafri.

Union Home Minister also reprimanded Setalvad

After the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the clean chit given to the PM in the Gujarat riots case, Union Home Minister Amit Shah this morning reprimanded social activist Teesta Setalvad for giving false information to the police about the Gujarat riots. He told news agency ANI that Teesta had given baseless information to the police about the Gujarat riots against the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. I read the judgment very carefully and the name of Teesta Setalvad has been mentioned in the judgment. The NGO run by him had given baseless information about the riots to the police.

The case happened after the decision of the Supreme Court

At the same time, after the decision of the Supreme Court, a case was registered against Teesta Setalvad, former IPS Sanjeev Bhatt and former IPS RB Sreekumar in Ahmedabad Crime Branch. Case registered under section 468, 471, 194, 211, 218, 120B. It is alleged that on the basis of the petition of Zakia Jafri, fake documents were presented in different commissions by misusing the legal process by saying that the fake documents were correct.

Former IPS RB Sreekumar also in custody

Ahmedabad Crime Branch has registered a case against all three for starting wrong proceedings under conspiracy by making forged documents. Teesta Setalvad and Sreekumar have been detained in this case while Sanjeev Bhatt is already in jail. Former IPS RB Sreekumar was detained from Gandhinagar.
