Gujarat Weavers Welfare Association: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the three-day ‘Vibrant Weavers Expo’ organized by Gujarat Weavers Welfare Association (Fogwa) in Surat from 26 to 28 August. During this, he said that his team is constantly working to speed up the pace of work. Patel said his government was committed to development with a focus on basic principles like education, health and safety. The Chief Minister encouraged the exhibitors by visiting various stalls of the Weavers Expo.

Surat’s contribution in the production of art silk fabric is important
Referring to the contribution of Gujarat in the textile industry, the Chief Minister said that the share of Gujarat in the total garment exports of the country is 12 per cent and man-made fiber production is 38 per cent. He said that Surat is contributing 50 per cent to the production of art silk fabric in the country. The CM said that the number of small and micro industries in the state was 2.74 lakh in the last two decades, which has increased to 8.66 lakh today. Industrial production in Gujarat was 2.27 lakh crore two decades ago, which has increased to 16.19 lakh crore today. The CM said that with the help of new technology, new patterns and skill up-gradation, the textile industry of the state is gaining momentum, in which Surat’s contribution is special.

Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles said this
In the exhibition, buyers can interact directly with the textile manufacturers as well as see the production of different types of fabrics from different weavers across Gujarat at one place. Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshanben Jardosh said that in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, Surat has set an example of self-reliant India by making 7.50 crore flags out of 20 crore flags across the country.

The central government has implemented incentive schemes to promote man-made fibres, technical textiles. Gujarat has been a leader in connectivity like road, train and port under the Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM-Mitra) Park in the country. 13 states have also agreed for PM Mitra Park, in which Gujarat has been first in its implementation by making special provisions in the budget.
