Haryana News: Haryana State Commission for Women Chairperson Renu Bhatia visited Gurugram for the first time after assuming her post in January this year. She was here on Wednesday to inspect the harassment cases filed by women in the city and the behavior of police officers in related matters.

During her visit, she has inquired about about fifteen complaints filed by women regarding domestic violence, dowry, mental harassment etc. In fact, five cases are still pending, and the people of both the parties involved in this case now have fifteen days to reach a mutual agreement. Here there were some cases of extra marital affair and also of second marriage. Meanwhile, three matters have been resolved by mutual consent by the parties concerned and in two cases, both the parties were called to Chandigarh on May 19 for personal hiring. Renu Bhatia said that there are some cases which are outside our jurisdiction, so they will be sent to the court.

Directed to get justice for women at the earliest

Five new complaints were also registered on the spot, which we will look into in the next hearing. Bhatia also held a meeting with senior police officers at the Mahila Police Station and inspected the cases of harassment registered in Gurugram. During the meeting, he directed the officials to provide justice to the victims at the earliest. Bhatia said, “If a woman comes to the police station with a complaint, then listen to her seriously and take necessary action till the complainant is satisfied.”
