The Kiwi team has won its 13th consecutive ODI match at home and it has become a record for them to win the most consecutive ODI matches at home. This series of victory of the Kiwi team started in February 2019, which is continuing till now. Earlier in 2015, the Kiwi team won 12 consecutive home ODIs between January and December. These are the only two occasions when the Kiwi team has won 10 or more ODIs at home in a row.

Batting first, India scored a good score of 306 runs. Shikhar Dhawan scored 72 and Shubman Gill scored a century opening partnership for India. Shreyas Iyer also helped India reach a big score while playing an inning of 80 runs. Chasing the score, the Kiwi team had lost three wickets for 88 runs, but after that Williamson and Latham batted brilliantly to win their team.

Latham played an unbeaten inning of 145 runs in 104 balls, which became his highest individual ODI innings. Williamson, on the other hand, scored an unbeaten 94 off 98 balls and played well with Latham.
