Jaishakar Slams Pakistan: India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, indirectly referring to Pakistan, said that just as India is an expert in Information Technology, in the same way “our neighbor is an expert in international terrorism”. Along with this, he warned that if terrorism “is being done against us, tomorrow it will be against you too.” He said that the world’s understanding of terrorism has changed as compared to earlier times and now it is not being done. It is not going to be tolerated. Countries that use terrorism are under pressure and will continue to do so.”
Foreign Minister said this without naming Pakistan
Jaishankar said at an event in Vadodara, Gujarat, “We have a neighbor.. Like we are experts in IT (Information Technology), they are experts in ‘international terrorists’. This has been going on for years… but we are the world’s Terrorism is terrorism, today it is against us, tomorrow it will be against you.”
Speaking on terrorist incidents in Northeast India, Jaishankar said that these activities have come down in recent years as India may achieve a land boundary agreement with Bangladesh in 2015. That agreement “barred extremists from taking refuge in Bangladesh, which halted their operations in northeast India.”
Appreciated PM’s talk on rising oil prices
Jaishankar also said on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not succumb to pressure amid rising oil prices and advised that India should do what is best for the country and face the pressure if it comes.
“Petrol prices have doubled due to Russia-Ukraine conflict and we had pressure to buy oil but the idea of PM Modi and the government was that we have to do what is best for our country and if pressure comes, we One should come to answer this and think about how we should face it.”
India has asked Russia-Ukraine to stop the war
During the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Jaishankar said that PM Modi called both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for a brief ceasefire so that we can evacuate our students safely. It is worth noting that India has consistently called on Russia and Ukraine to end the war and choose dialogue and diplomacy.
