India Wheat Exports Market: It is having a deep impact internationally after the ban on export of wheat to control the rising prices domestically in the country. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said that the export of wheat will be allowed on the basis of permission granted by the Government of India to other countries to meet their food security needs and based on the request of their governments. This data is in line with the latest US Department of Agriculture report for May 2022. Wheat exports from India are estimated at 10 million metric tonnes in the 12 months from July 2021 to June 2022. The total global wheat exports during this period are estimated to be 201.5 million metric tonnes. In the current financial year from April 2022 to March 2023, the Government of India estimates that around 45 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been contracted for export. In the year 2020-21, 21.55 lakh tonnes of wheat has been exported. In the same year 2021-22, a total of 72.15 lakh tonnes of wheat has been exported.

To which countries did India export how much wheat?

In April 2022 alone, 14.63 lakh metric tonnes were exported from India, which is much higher than 2.43 lakh metric tonnes in the same month last year. Apart from this, 95,167 MT of flour has been exported in April this year which is almost four times more than 25,566 MT in April 2021. Bangladesh is considered to be the largest buyer of Indian wheat. Apart from this, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Nepal are among the major importers of Indian wheat.
