India-France Relationship: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron and displayed India’s solidarity in dealing with the fierce forest fires and drought situation in the country. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the two leaders also discussed important geopolitical challenges and civil nuclear energy cooperation.
According to the PMO, during this phone conversation, the two leaders also reviewed the ongoing bilateral initiatives between India and France, including projects related to defense cooperation and civil nuclear energy.

PM Modi said that the two leaders also agreed on closer cooperation to meet the global challenges related to food and energy security. India and France have been raising concerns about global food security challenges in the wake of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
There has been a huge fire in the forests of Europe for the last few days and many countries of Europe besides Germany and Romania have been engaged to extinguish it. This fire has also spread to some parts of Portugal and England. Thousands of hectares of crops have also been destroyed due to forest fires. This situation has arisen due to extreme heat and drought.
