Devon Conway Credits MS Dhoni: Thanks to Chennai Super Kings batsman Devon Conway, the team registered its fourth win in this season of IPL. With this win, CSK has reached number eight in the IPL points table. Conway said after the match that he was advised to play the sweep shot by captain Dhoni, which he followed well.

CSK won by 91 runs against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. Left-handed batsman Conway scored 87 runs in 49 balls, where he was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’. Conway revealed that he wanted to keep his batting simple, so that he managed to score big.

Conway said after the match that, “I really enjoyed playing a long partnership with opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. He also discussed this with batting coach Mike Hussey on how to target the bowlers. The way I am really happy with Gaikwad and I handling the innings.”

This was the third consecutive half-century for CSK’s left-handed batsman Conway this season as the team scored 208 runs for the loss of six wickets on the score board because of the batsman. According to Chennai Super Kings.com, the batsman faced only 49 balls, out of which only 10 balls went to the dots. In the beginning, Conway tested the balls, after which he started applying boundaries, due to which he got a chance to play long innings. Conway’s game against spin came to the fore when he used his legs and crease to the best of the spinners. He hit two consecutive sixes in the fifth over of Axar Patel.

He made 17 while facing nine balls of Akshar. Whereas against Kuldeep’s spin, he scored 37 runs in 10 balls, which included four fours and three sixes. Another important aspect of Conway’s batting was that he paced his innings and shared a 110-run opening partnership with Gaikwad.

Earlier against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Conway paced his innings brilliantly and shared a 182-run partnership with Gaikwad. A similar scene was seen against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. The left-handed batsman was initially on 14 runs in 13 balls, after which he scored the next 73 runs in just 36 balls.

South African great Graeme Smith told Star Sports, “Devon Conway is a fantastic batsman. His stroke play, whether through the leg-side or off-side, was superb. The other thing is he has the ability to rotate the strike and he has a short strike. The boundary was well hit.”
