Sachin Tendulkar On Jonny Bairstow: India’s great batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been very impressed with the scintillating innings of 66 runs in 29 balls by Jonny Bairstow of Punjab Kings opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. Besides Bairstow, his England teammate Liam Livingstone scored 70 runs in 42 balls to help Punjab win by 54 runs.

Tendulkar said on his YouTube channel on Saturday, “I have been very impressed by Jonny Bairstow’s batting. Bangalore surprised Punjab by bowling Glenn Maxwell in the first over. But the way they bowled him at mid-off. Hitting a six, it showed that Jonny Bairstow is in the mood to play a good innings.

Bairstow scored 22 runs in the second over of Punjab’s innings, hitting a four and a six, an attack that Bangalore could not recover from in that match. Tendulkar said, “The way he was batting against Josh Hazlewood, he was playing very cleverly. Hazlewood usually bowls good lengths and does not deliver too many full deliveries. Bairstow hit his balls with body parts. Close, square leg and mid-wicket areas.

Tendulkar further pointed out that Bangalore should have bowled more fuller deliveries to stop Bairstow or bowl away from their preferred leg-side areas. After the dismissal of Bairstow, Livingstone went ahead in the last six overs to return Hazlewood to the pavilion after scoring 24 runs in the 19th over, which included two fours and as many sixes. Tendulkar praised Harshal Patel for his 4/34, conceding just four runs including taking three wickets in the final over.
