Jammu Kashmir: In Jammu and Kashmir, where on one side the army is taking up the security of the borders. On the other hand, the army also makes every effort to help the common people in these far-flung border areas cut off from the world. One such remote area is Machil sector of Kupwara in North Kashmir where life of people is impossible without army!

About 180 km from Srinagar and 70 km from the district headquarters of Kupwara, the Machil valley is hidden between the high mountains – there is only one way to reach this valley with a population of 16 thousand people, which is about 13 thousand feet high landowners. Passes through the street and is closed for 6 months of winter due to heavy snowfall! That’s why the base people in the 14 villages here depend on the army for every small and big thing!

Neither the road nor the hospital in the villages Poshwari Bala

According to 70-year-old Mohammad Sultan, his villages have been cut off from the rest of the country for the last 75 years. Neither the road nor the hospital in his village Poshwari Bala! There is no sign of school and other facilities and even today the patient has to walk about 6 kilometers to take him to the hospital! “If the army belongs, then we can not do anything. The army also provides work and facilities too” Never supported terrorism and right now the people here are expecting development like the rest of the world due to the ongoing ceasefire on the borders.

“We are thankful to Modi that he brought peace here! Earlier there used to be infighting and Pakistani shelling too. But now both are over.” Machil resident Habibullah Mir said. But due to the remote and remote area, development has not reached here and the Indian Army has compensated for this! A small hospital is running in Machil with the help of the army and the supply of roads and electricity is also being done with the help of the army.

Children have to pay 140-150 rupees only

According to the sarpanch of Machil, Habibullah Harre, the life of the people here would not have been possible without the army. Neither education nor health services have been provided by the local administration in this area. The biggest gift of the army to the people of Machil is the Army Goodwill School running here. At present 114 children study in this school running till class VIII and for the education of seater of any Priyavate school, children have to pay only Rs 140-150 fee.
