Jharkhand Cash Scandal: The Calcutta High Court has given a big blow to the arrested MLAs of Jharkhand Congress. The legislators had petitioned to hand over the investigation of the case to the CBI, which has been rejected by the court. The court has instead allowed the CID to continue the investigation in an impartial manner. Three Congress MLAs from Jharkhand – Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap and Naman Bixal Kongari – were arrested by the West Bengal Police on the evening of July 30 after confiscating cash worth around Rs 49 lakh from a car. All three were traveling in the same car.
The MLAs had told the police that cash was used to buy saris in Kolkata’s Burabazar on the occasion of the coming World Tribal Day. The arrested MLAs, including the driver, and two others along with them were sent by the court to CID custody till August 10.
Congress had accused BJP
After this the Congress suspended the three MLAs. In this case, the Congress had accused the BJP that BJP is plotting to topple the coalition government in Jharkhand. The Congress had said that their MLAs are being lured with crores of rupees and ministerial posts if the BJP government is formed.
Raiding on CID case
In connection with this matter, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal also raided the office of a stock broker in Kolkata. According to the CID, who gave cash to three Congress MLAs of Jharkhand. A raid was conducted on Tuesday afternoon at the office of accused Mahendra Agarwal in Bikaner building located on Lal Bazar Street in Kolkata. In which 250 silver coins and Rs 3,31,000 in cash were recovered.
The office was sealed after a raid that lasted for two hours. The CID had also obtained some CCTV footage, which shows that three Congress MLAs had received over Rs 48 lakh from Agarwal. Regarding this matter, the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had claimed on the previous day that their teams in Delhi and Guwahati on Wednesday morning were stopped by the local police from investigating the case of seizure of cash from three MLAs. was.
