Avinash Pandey Met Sonia Gandhi: There is talk of creating distance between Congress and JMM regarding the candidate of Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand. Congress wanted to send its candidate from Jharkhand to Rajya Sabha this time. But Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren has nominated Mahua Maji as the Rajya Sabha candidate. At the same time, after this announcement, Jharkhand Congress in-charge Avinash Pandey met Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.
After this meeting, Avinash Pandey said that the Congress had kept its stand clear from the beginning that the candidate from this alliance would be elected unanimously. Jharkhand CM also discussed this. There may have been a misunderstanding because this announcement of the JMM candidate is one-sided. I don’t think Congress has ever made an informal demand in the last two years.
Avinash Pandey will meet CM Hemant Soren
He further said that we still feel that this alliance should work with better coordination and strength. Rajya Sabha is just a stop, many challenging tasks will come in the next 2 years for the benefit of the state. Naturally the Congress is upset with this decision as we expected a discussion and trust. I will reach Jharkhand tomorrow and listen to the complaints of my workers, leaders and MLAs and also try to discuss the matter with CM Hemant Soren.
Congress was continuously demanding Rajya Sabha seat
Let us tell you that the Congress was continuously demanding a Rajya Sabha seat. In this connection, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had met Congress President Sonia Gandhi for more than an hour on Saturday. At the same time, today Chief Minister Hemant Soren has announced to make Mahua Maji as Rajya Sabha candidate. CM said, “We have chosen Mahua Maji of our party as the candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections with the consent of Guruji (Shibu Soren).” Voting is to be held for two seats. The elections for these seats are going to be held in view of the end of the tenure of Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Mahesh Poddar on July 7.
