Jharkhand High Court Summons State Home Secretary: The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday summoned the Home Secretary of the state to the court regarding the protection of witnesses in the state. Taking suo motu cognizance of the murder of a young man named Manpreet Singh, hours after he testified in a Jamshedpur court on June 8, the court had sought a response from the state government. Home Secretary Rajiv Arun Ekka, who appeared in the same case, told the court that the Protection Act is in force for the protection of witnesses in the state and protection is given under it. The High Court has directed him to install high quality CCTV cameras in all the district courts of the state and improve the security system.

Court expressed displeasure over the killing of the witness
A bench headed by Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Dr Ravi Ranjan has converted the matter into a PIL. During the hearing held earlier, the court, expressing strong displeasure over the killing of the witness, had asked the government what is the plan to provide security to the witnesses. Further hearing in this matter was held on Wednesday.

A young man named Manpreet Singh was murdered
It is worth noting that soon after the appearance of Manpreet Singh, a resident of Jamshedpur in the court, the criminals broke the door of his house in broad daylight and entered the house and killed him. Manpreet died on the spot.
