Ban On Loudspeaker: The Karnataka government has banned the use of loudspeakers from 10 pm to 6 am. On this matter, the Karnataka government has said that loudspeakers or people addressing systems cannot be used without the approval of the authorized officer. The government has issued a circular on the matter, stating that loudspeakers or people-addressing systems cannot be used except in auditoriums, conference rooms, community halls and banquet halls.

Refers to Supreme Court’s order

An order of the Supreme Court has been cited in the circular. It states that in a public place where loudspeaker or public address system or any other source is being used, the noise shall be 10 dB(A) or 75 dB(A) whichever is less, depending on the surroundings of the area. According to the circular, the State Government reiterates that the orders of the Government under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000 are to be strictly followed and enforced for the control of noise pollution from loudspeakers/public address systems and noise generating devices.
