Murder Case in Maharashtra: A Maharashtra court has sentenced a former defense employee to life imprisonment for killing a porter. The case is of 2018. District Judge Shaukat Gorwade of Kalyan Adalat in his order on Monday also imposed a fine of one thousand rupees on the guilty Dhananjay Kumar Sinha, 58. Dhananjay Kumar Sinha retired from the Navy in 2006. The rank of the accused was not mentioned in the FIR registered in the murder case.
Sentencing announced in porter’s murder case
Additional Public Prosecutor Sachin Kulkarni told the court that victim Kanhu Balu Jadav (then 72 years old) worked as a porter at Khadawali railway station in Mumbai-Kasara suburban section. He used to help railway employees and policemen many times to clean the mess on the platform and drive away the nuisance beggars. The prosecution told the court that Shaukat, who lived alone, often went to the railway station and slept on the platform bench, to which the victim had objected. There was a dispute between them many times regarding this.

Court praised the prosecution
During one such quarrel, on 12 February 2018, Shaukat thrashed the victim to death. Later Kanhu’s body was found under a bridge near the railway station. The prosecution examined eight witnesses to prove the case. Based on the statements of witnesses and evidence, the court observed that the prosecution, beyond doubt, has successfully proved the case. The accused should be convicted and sentenced.
