Sharad Pawar Meets Uddhav Thackeray: NCP chief Sharad Pawar met Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray amid the ongoing political struggle in Maharashtra. According to sources, during this time Sharad Pawar advised that if the rebellion is to be brought down, then a decision should be taken to make Eknath Shinde the CM. After this, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole also said that he has no problem in supporting Shinde. Whatever decision Uddhav Thackeray will take, it is acceptable.
In Maharashtra, there is a coalition government of Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP. Meanwhile, senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde has revolted. Shinde is in Guwahati with around 40 Shiv Sena MLAs and is calling his own faction the real Shiv Sena.
Just before meeting Pawar, the chief minister addressed the people of the state. Breaking his silence on the crisis faced by the government, he said that he is ready to step down if the rebel MLAs tell him that he does not want to see him (Thackeray) as the chief minister.
Thackeray said, “Why are you giving statements from Surat and other places? Come before me and tell me that I am not capable of handling the posts of Chief Minister and Shiv Sena President. I will resign immediately. I will keep my resignation ready and you can come and take it to the Raj Bhavan.”
He said that he would be happy to see a Shiv Sainik as his successor on the chief minister’s post. Thackeray said he took over as the chief minister despite his inexperience on the suggestion of Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar.
