Maharashtra Politics: After Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray vacated his official residence in Mumbai, Shiv Sena is now directly in talks with the rebel MLAs and each of them is being talked to through messengers, but the dispute is resolved. There doesn’t seem to be any hope. A senior Shiv Sena functionary said, “The magnitude of the rebellion is such that the chances of survival are slim, but we are engaging them and regular talks are taking place.”

If half the MLAs return, the government can be saved

The Shiv Sena leader said the only hope is that the party feels that many MLAs do not want to go to the polls, so they will have to contest again if they are disqualified for violating the party line. If half the MLAs return, the government can be saved. As the leader pointed out, Shiv Sena rebels are on the rise, adding that no one could have expected Shinde to do so as he was a trusted figure in the top leadership.

Uddhav said – If the MLA agrees, I am ready to leave the post of CM

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray vacated his official residence ‘Varsha’ in Malabar Hill late Wednesday night and returned with his family to his private home in Bandra, Matoshree. The move comes hours after his emotional appeal to the rebel group of Shiv Sena MLAs led by minister Eknath Shinde that he (Thackeray) was ready to step down both as chief minister and party president, provided the rebels meet him. Thackeray also said that he had kept his resignation letter ready and any rebel can go and submit it to the governor.

Shinde adamant on the demand for alliance with BJP

Shinde, on his part, responded by saying that steps would have to be taken for Hindutva and reiterated his demand to break ties with the Nationalist Congress Party and Congress to form the government with the Bharatiya Janata Party. The crisis shows no sign of abating, despite efforts by MVA allies, including the chief minister’s offer to step down or even his decision to vacate his official residence.
