Mandar ByElection: More than three thousand security personnel have been deployed in the constituency on Wednesday, a day before the by-election to Mandar assembly seat in Jharkhand. A senior police officer gave this information. Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Surendra Kumar Jha said on Wednesday that elaborate security arrangements have been made for the polling and 100 per cent security cover has been provided at all the polling places.
More than 3.54 lakh voters will exercise their franchise
“More than three thousand security forces personnel have been deployed which includes District Armed Forces (DAP), Jharkhand Armed Forces (JAP), CRPF and SSB personnel,” the SSP said. More than 3.54 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the by-election, including 1.75 lakh women. The polling will start at 7 am and will go on till 4 pm, officials said. Counting of votes will take place on June 26.

Challenge to save seat in front of Congress
The Congress Party, a coalition partner of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led government, aims to save the seat reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST). In this by-election, there is a possibility of a close contest between Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and independent candidate Dev Kumar Dhan. MLA Bandhu Tirke was disqualified in the corruption case, after which the by-election is being held on this seat.
