The depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar has increased the problems for the industry. Siema President Eric Breganza said that raw material prices are already rising and now the US dollar is strengthening and the rupee weakens, so all manufacturers are expected to make minimum profit. From June onwards, prices will increase by three to five per cent. This price increase will be on from washing machines to air conditioners, refrigerators and other home appliances. Some AC manufacturers have increased the prices in May itself, the rest will increase the prices by the end of this month or in June. Breganza said that if the rupee remains at 77.40 against the dollar, then the manufacturers will have to balance the price. However, if it reaches the earlier level of Rs 75 in the next two weeks, there will be no need to do so.
