Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is facing extremely high rates of violence during his six-year term.
The President has emphasized on attacking violence with social programs instead of one-on-one confrontation with the country’s powerful drug cartels. López Obrador said last month, “I am absolutely convinced that you cannot counter violence with violence, coercive measures are not enough, it is a conservative, authoritarian view.”
