Agnipath Scheme: A press conference was held by the Ministry of Defense regarding the Agneepath scheme. In this press conference, Additional Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, Lt Gen Anil Puri said that no change has been made in the recruitment process. The regimental procedure will remain unchanged. We will take an undertaking and the candidates will have to give a certificate that they were not involved in any arson or sabotage.
Lt Gen Anil Puri said that the Agneepath scheme balances three things, first the youth profile of the armed forces, technical knowledge and people who are friendly to join the army, third prepares the person for the future. He said that it is a matter of security of our country. Somebody spread a rumor that old army personnel will be sent under the Agniveer scheme, this is a fake information.
Earlier also the army had held a joint press conference
Let us inform that, earlier on June 19, the Army had held a joint press conference regarding the Agnipath scheme, in which Lieutenant General Anil Puri had made it clear that the Agnipath scheme for the recruitment of soldiers in the army would not be withdrawn. He had said that this is a progressive step and it is very important to do so to protect the country. Therefore, there is no question of withdrawing the Agneepath scheme.
This was said to the youth protesting
Lt General Anil Puri had also clearly told the protesting youth that no one can enter the army without police verification. Therefore, the protesting students are requested not to waste their time. If an FIR is lodged against someone, then they will not be able to join the army.
