Ashwini Vaishnaw on BSNL: The Modi cabinet today approved the revival package for BSNL. After the cabinet meeting, Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that a package of 1.64 lakh crores has been announced. The first package was given in 2019. He said that the Cabinet has approved the merger of BSNL and Bharat Broadbank Network Limited.

Vaishnav told reporters about the decision taken by the Union Cabinet that the government will allot spectrum to BSNL to offer 4G services.

Vaishnav said that under the second decision, the cabinet approved a package of 26316 crores for connectivity in the villages today. The villages which have 2G have been approved to get 4G service. This will benefit 25 thousand villages. Order has also been given for the border area.

He said that the border area will also include eastern Ladakh where 4G can be brought. The Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Communication will explain how 4G network can be brought in the border area. Vaishnav said that PM Modi emphasizes on the person at the last end of the society.
