PM Modi On Cannes Film Festival: Ahead of the appearance of the Indian delegation led by Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on the Cannes-2022 red carpet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a message expressing pride. PM Modi said in the message that India has been declared the official ‘Country of Honour’ in the Marche du Films-Cannes film. I am happy to know this. As India celebrates its 75th year of independence, so is the 75th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival. Also 75 years of Indo-French diplomatic relations make this moment more special.
The message further said that films and society are mirror images of each other. Cinema displays human emotions and expressions in an artistic manner, which binds the world with a common strand of entertainment. India is the largest film producer country in the world. Films from different regions in many languages, the diversity of our film sector is remarkable. Rich heritage and cultural diversity is the strength of India. There are many stories to discover in our country.
Huge potential to become a content hub in India
PM Modi also assured those who want to make India their content hub. The PM said that from facilitating international film co-productions, to ensuring a single window system for permitting filming across the country, India offers uninterrupted possibilities to the world’s filmmakers. Our beautiful sights, technical prowess in filmmaking and the talent of youth, men and women, provide an ideal backdrop for filmmakers. India indeed has immense potential to become the content hub of the world. The Government of India is resolute in its efforts towards bringing ease of doing business in the film sector.
This time the Cannes Film Festival is special in many ways- PM
The PM further said that it is heartening to know that a film by one of India’s most renowned filmmakers, Mr. Satyajit Ray has been screened in the Cannes Classics section. India is also celebrating the birth centenary of this great filmmaker. This edition of Cannes Film Festival is special in many ways. Many start-ups of India will showcase their strength in front of the cinema world. The India Pavilion will showcase aspects of Indian cinema and promote international partnerships and learning. The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes for the grand success of the festival.
India participating as Country of Honor
Let us tell you that India is participating in the Cannes Film Festival as the official country of honor. This festival will be organized from May 17 to May 28 this year. This is the first time that the Honor of Country is being done at the festival. India’s pavilion will be inaugurated by Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur in Cannes on Wednesday. The Universal Theme for this year is “India: The Content Hub of the World”.
