LPG Cylinder Consumption Update: LPG ie LPG is becoming increasingly expensive. Due to which the budget of the people’s house has deteriorated. Meanwhile, the Modi government has released shocking figures regarding the consumption of LPG cylinders in the Rajya Sabha. The government has told the House that in the last five years, 4.13 crore beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana have not got a single LPG cylinder refilled. Minister of State for Petroleum, Rameshwar Teli has given this information in writing in Parliament.

7.67 crore beneficiaries got only one cylinder refilled
In fact, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress MP Pramod Tiwari had asked the government that there are total beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana who have refilled one or less LPG cylinders in the last five years. In response to this, the Minister of State for Petroleum said that in the last five years 4.13 crore beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana have not got a single LPG cylinder refilled. He said that there are a total of 7.67 crore beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana who have got only one LPG cylinder refilled.

30.53 crore active customers in the country
According to Rameshwar Teji, the consumption of LPG cylinder depends on the way of catering to the people, the total number of people living in the houses and other fuel options. He said that out of total 30.53 crore active LPG customers in 2021-22, 2.11 domestic LPG customers have not refilled a single cylinder. So a total of 2.91 crore LPG customers have refilled only one cylinder.

Cylinder consumption depends on these factors
The Minister of State for Petroleum told the House that the government keeps on modulating the prices of domestic LPG cylinders for the consumers and the subsidy amount is transferred to the eligible beneficiaries in their accounts. Apart from this, on May 21, 2022, the government has announced a subsidy of Rs 200 to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for getting 12 cylinders in 2022-23.
