Presidential Election 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated former Jharkhand governor and tribal leader Draupadi Murmu as its presidential candidate against opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha for the July 18 elections. . BJP leader Babulal Marandi has expressed happiness over Draupadi Murmu being made the candidate for the post of President. Babulal Marandi has said that the nomination of Draupadi Murmu to the highest constitutional post of India is a matter of pride for the whole of Jharkhand.

BJP leaders celebrated outside the state office after Draupadi Murmu was made the presidential candidate. The workers of the party’s Scheduled Tribes Morcha celebrated by playing drums and drums. During this, the workers expressed their gratitude to the central leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda. State President Deepak Prakash, former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi were also present during the celebration.

Let us tell you that Draupadi Murmu’s tenure of more than 6 years as the Governor of Jharkhand was not only non-controversial but also memorable. After the completion of her term, she left for Jharkhand Raj Bhavan from her village in Rairangpur district of Odisha on July 12, 2021 and has been living there since then. Draupadi has rich experience of more than 6 years as Governor. With his candidature, BJP is trying to give a symbolic message to the entire country in many ways. Draupadi Murmu was also awarded the Neelkanth Award for Best MLA by the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Political journey in 1997
Born on June 20, 1958 in Odisha in a simple Santhal tribal family, Daupadi Murmu started her political career in 1997. She was elected councilor of the district board in Rairangpur in 1997. Before joining politics, she worked as Honorary Assistant Teacher at Sri Aurobindo Integral Education and Research, Rairangpur and as Junior Assistant in Irrigation Department. She has been a two-time MLA in Odisha and also got an opportunity to serve as a minister in the Naveen Patnaik government, when the BJP was in alliance with the Biju Janata Dal.
