Presidential Election 2022: In the meeting of the opposition held today regarding the candidature in the presidential election, no one name could be decided. In the meeting, all the parties suggested the name of Sharad Pawar, but Pawar, who was present in the meeting, himself refused the candidature. In the meeting, Mamta Banerjee also proposed the names of Farooq Abdullah and Gopal Krishna Gandhi. However, he expressed hope that Sharad Pawar would be persuaded.

According to sources, a meeting of the leaders of the opposition will be called once again next week, the responsibility of deciding the date and place of which has been entrusted to Sharad Pawar.

According to sources, the next meeting is likely to be held on June 21. A resolution was passed in today’s meeting which said that a person is needed for the post of President who can protect the Constitution. However, the color of the meeting faded a bit when five of the invited parties did not attend the meeting. These parties include Aam Aadmi Party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Biju Janata Dal, Akali Dal and YSR Congress.

BSP and TDP did not join
Apart from this, parties like BSP and TDP also did not attend the meeting as they were not invited. According to sources, in the meeting, Mamata Banerjee attacked the Modi government and said that through the investigating agencies, BJP is working on the agenda of making an opposition-free India and only opposition leaders are being selectively targeted.

What did Mamata Banerjee say on the bulldozer controversy?
Speaking on the bulldozer controversy, Mamta said that without following the legal process, bulldozers are being used illegally against a particular section. Meanwhile, efforts have been started on behalf of the government to build a consensus regarding the candidature of the presidential election.

In this regard, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh called on Mamta Banerjee, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, SP President Akhilesh Yadav, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Orissa.
