Jodhpur Violence: The accused in the communal violence case that took place on May 2 and 3 in Jodhpur city have got interim relief. The police had made an accused of violence by registering an FIR against many people. Among the accused against the FIR, Hitesh Vyas, Arvind Purohit and Himanshu Gehlot took refuge in the Rajasthan High Court. The matter was heard by Justice Dinesh Mehta. Staying the arrest of the three accused, the High Court has sought the case diary of all the FIRs registered and summoned the investigating officer on May 23 along with the CCTV footage of the incident. Now hearing in this matter will be held on May 23.

How did the Jodhpur violence start?

There was a fierce fight between two groups on the night of May 2 at the Jalori Gate circle. Police reached the spot and fired tear gas shells and lathi-charged to disperse the crowd. On the morning of May 3, in the dispute after the Eid prayers, the police used mild force and dispersed the rioters. The matter was related to the installation of a flag on the statue of freedom fighter Balmukund Bissa. It is alleged that the rioters continued to spread violence in the area from which they came out.

Communal violence broke out in many areas of the city. Police and administration imposed curfew in the city as a precautionary measure. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot formed the SIT to investigate the violence. Ordered to deal strictly against the culprits who spoil the peace and brotherhood in the city. Police registered FIR against 1500 to 2000 unknown people. Arrested 322 people under section 151 and 30 accused in the violence case. Police is still investigating the violence case and the arrest of the accused is going on.
