Punjab Sangrur Bypoll Result: The result of the Lok Sabha...

Punjab Sangrur Bypoll Result: The result of the Lok Sabha by-election in Sangrur, Punjab has dealt a big blow to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) candidate Simranjit Singh Mann has won the by-election in Sangrur seat. Bhagwant Mann failed to save his stronghold even after forming the government in the state three months ago.

With this defeat, AAP will no longer have a single MP in the Lok Sabha. These by-elections were held due to the resignation of Bhagwant Mann from the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat after being elected MLA in the assembly elections held in the same year. Many reasons are being given behind the defeat of AAP candidate Gurmail Singh and victory of Simranjit Singh Mann in this by-election.

Sidhu Musewala murder case is the main reason for your defeat?

The biggest reason for these election results not going in favor of AAP is believed to be the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. After the murder of Punjabi singer Moosewala, there was a lot of resentment towards the AAP government regarding the law and order situation in Punjab. On the other hand, Simranjit Singh Mann supported Moosewala and Mann had taken a dig at the government.

Let us tell you that Moosewala had also supported Simranjit Singh Mann after the announcement of the by-election. He was also about to campaign for Mann, but he was murdered. It is believed that that is why the voters voted fiercely for Mann. After the killing of Sidhu Musewala, many questions were raised on the law and order situation of the Punjab government because the security of many people was reduced by the government, including Musewala, a day before the murder.

Sangrur is your stronghold

This defeat is also being considered as a big setback for you because it has been your stronghold for the last many years. At the same time, it was also a question of the prestige of the Aam Aadmi Party as the party formed the government in Punjab, winning a landslide victory in the assembly elections three months ago.

Sangrur parliamentary constituency has been considered as the impregnable fort of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The party had won all the nine assembly constituencies of Sangrur parliamentary constituency – Lehra, Dirba, Barnala, Sunam, Bhadaur, Mahal Kalan, Malerkotla, Dhuri and Sangrur in the 2022 assembly elections. Bhagwant Mann himself has been an MP from here for two consecutive terms.

Bhagwant Mann won by huge margin

Bhagwant Mann won the Sangrur seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections by defeating Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. Mann defeated Dhindsa by a huge margin of 2.11 lakh votes. After this Mann contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur and won by defeating Kewal Dhillon of Congress by a margin of 1.10 lakh votes.

The reason for the defeat given by the opposition

This was the party’s first test after the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) landslide victory in the Assembly elections held in March this year, which was also being seen as the government’s report card. Opposition parties say that the public has voted against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, the killing of Sidhu Musewala and the unfulfilled election promises of AAP. People have rejected you within a few days.
