Elon Musk’s SpaceX Plant Rocket Booster: An ambitious project of Elon Musk came under fire on Monday. SpaceX A booster rocket developed by SpaceX exploded in flames during a groundtest firing in Texas on Monday. However, there is no news of any casualty during this period. The explosion of this next-generation Starship spacecraft dealt a possible blow to Musk’s objective of launching Starship into orbit later this year.

Elon Musk tweeted after the evening explosion of the Super Heavy Booster 7 Prototype, “Yeah, that’s really not good. The team is assessing the damage.” The explosion of a booster rocket engulfed in flames during SpaceX’s test run was shown in a recorded livestream of the NASA Spaceflight website. However, there is no sign of any immediate casualty.

Cause of explosion not clear

The exact cause of the explosion of this rocket booster at the SpaceX plant is not known. It is not known what caused the rocket to be engulfed in flames and heavy smoke. Due to this, the video camera also appeared to shake during this time, although the booster remained upright. This failure was encountered in the middle of a day-long static fire test mission of the booster in Boca Chica, Texas. It is equipped with an array of 33 Raptor engines for use in the upcoming Uncrewed Orbital Test Flight. SpaceX was hoping to launch it by the end of this year.

What is SpaceX’s Starship

SpaceX’s entire Starship will be 394 feet (120 m) long with its super-heavy first-stage booster. It is one of Musk’s key ambitions to make human space travel more affordable and regular. This is the next generation launch vehicle of Musk’s company. However, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also not said anything about the investigation of this explosion of the SpaceX plant.

Significantly, in late 2020 and early 2021, SpaceX lost four prototypes of Starship in a category of high-altitude test launches. These starships ended in explosions during return landing attempts. However, the Starship prototype finally achieved a safe touchdown in May 2021 i.e. was successful in making a safe landing on the ground.
