In a letter issued by the Maharashtra State Legislature Secretariat to the members of the Legislative Assembly, it has been said that the election for the post of Speaker of the House will be held on July 3. Nomination papers for the post of President will be accepted till 12 noon on July 2. Rahul Narvekar of BJP has filed for the post of Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Shinde may move confidence motion
At the same time, in the cabinet meeting held on Thursday, soon after Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of the state, it was decided that a special session of the Legislative Assembly would be held on July 2 and 3. However, now the dates have been rescheduled. Voting on the confidence motion is also likely to take place during the session. Shinde has the support of 39 MLAs from the rebel Shiv Sena group, 10 MLAs from independents and smaller parties and 106 from BJP. Shinde is likely to move the confidence motion on the floor of the House during the two-day session.
