Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka four times, was on Thursday (May 12) appointed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the new Prime Minister of the country. The United National Party (UNP) has only one seat in parliament.

Most of the opposition parties do not want to be included in the government.
