TCS Share Price: The country’s largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) completed 18 years of being listed on the stock exchange. In 2004, it was listed after TCS’s IPO was launched on August 25. And since listing, TCS has given returns of more than 282.9 per cent to its investors. Let us take a look at how the investors who were allotted shares in TCS IPO became rich in these 18 years.
TCS gave a sloppy return
Suppose an investor was allotted 100 shares at an IPO price of Rs 850 per share on allotment in an IPO. Today the price of that share has increased from Rs 2,40,500 to Rs 3,25,500. Whereas this does not include the bonus shares given by the company to the shareholders. TCS had issued bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1 in 2006, 2009 and 2018. That is, the number of shares of the shareholder who had 100 shares at the time of IPO has increased to 800. This means that if an investor had bought 100 shares of TCS for Rs 85,000, its value has increased to more than Rs 26 lakh (Rs 26,04,000) today.
IPO came in 2004
Let us tell you that TCS is currently trading 20 percent below its high. On Thursday, TCS’s share is trading at Rs 3225 while the stock has also touched the highest level of Rs 4043. TCS was listed on the stock exchanges at Rs 1,076, up 26 per cent from the IPO price level of Rs 850. In 2004, when TCS came out with an IPO of size Rs 4713 crore, it was the largest IPO in the history of Indian stock market. This IPO got a great response from the investors. Let us tell you that the stock of TCS has not only given great returns to its shareholders. Rather, due to its excellent financial performance, the company has also given a lot of dividend to the shareholders. In 2021-22, the company paid a dividend of 4300 per cent, which works out to Rs 43 per share.
Second in terms of market cap
TCS is a Tata group giant which ranks second in terms of market cap among all the companies listed on the Indian stock market. The market cap of TCS is Rs 11.82 lakh crore.
