Shimla Kalka Rail Track Landslide: Train movement on Shimla-Kalka Heritage rail track has been disrupted after landslides in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. When a train carrying more than 50 passengers reached near Patta Mor in Solan district, huge stones started falling from a hill. The driver applied the brakes in time, which averted a major accident. Services will resume once the track is cleared.

Landslides are happening continuously in Himachal Pradesh after heavy rains. Two days ago, an incident of landslide was reported near Koti-bridge under Saluni sub-division of Chamba district, due to which heavy debris fell on the Bhaleyi-Koti road, obstructing the road. When part of the hill fell down, more than a dozen people were passing on the Koti bridge, who ran to the other side of the bridge to save their lives during the landslide.

Debris fell some distance from the bridge. If debris fell on the bridge, it could have been badly damaged, as well as endangering the lives of people passing over it. Earlier, another incident of landslide was reported near Bagga Dam on Chamba-Bharmaur road in Chamba district. Due to which the movement of vehicles was disrupted for several hours.

Rivers in spate due to bad weather

About 10 days ago, there was a huge landslide in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. The Bagipul-Jaon road was blocked after the incident. During this, landslides were also reported in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The State Disaster Management Authority had said that eight people were injured in the landslide. There was a landslide at a construction site near a flour mill. Rivers are in spate due to bad weather in the state and reports of landslides are coming to the fore.

Let us tell you that the Shimla-Kalka Railway is a narrow-gauge railway in North India that traverses the mostly mountainous route from Kalka to Shimla. It is known for its beautiful views of the hills and surrounding villages. There are total 18 sections in Shimla-Kalka railway track.
