Basic Education Department New Academic Session: More than three months...
Basic Education Department New Academic Session: More than three months have passed since the new academic session of the Basic Education Department started. But till now the students studying in government primary and upper primary schools have not received the books. The future of 1 crore 80 lakh students is being played with in more than 1 lakh 30 thousand council schools of the state. The team of ABP Ganga has found the ground realities of schools in different districts of the state quite disturbing. This is the condition when the government is giving a budget of more than 350 crores for books with an open mind. After talking to the children and teachers, ABP Ganga also questioned the responsible officials and the Education Minister.
Playing with the future of 1 crore 80 lakh students
Education Department officials said that more than 10 crore books are to be allotted to more than 1 crore 80 lakh students in the state. This does not include the number of workbooks. An official of the department said that after the issue of tender for the books, work orders have been given to the selected firms on June 7. These firms have to complete the supply of books within 90 days. When the team of ABP Ganga extracted the figures, it came to light that till the evening of July 11, only about 32 lakh books were supplied in 10 crores. That is, supply of only 32 lakh books after the passage of about 35 days in the stipulated 90 days.
Books were found in only 20 districts out of 75 districts
Talking about district wise, till July 11, out of 75 districts of the state, books reached only 20 districts. That is, the book was not even supplied in 55 districts. Even in the 20 districts where the books reached, most of the places within 2-3 days. In such a situation, the books are still lying in the store. Books reached these 20 districts by the evening of July 11: Bulandshahr, Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Aligarh (District of Basic Education Minister), Hathras, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Varanasi (PM’s parliamentary constituency), Lucknow (capital), Rae Bareli , Gorakhpur (CM City), Deoria, Kushinagar, Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Barabanki, Balrampur, Banda.
The first consignment of books has also arrived in the capital Lucknow on the night of 10 July. Now let’s talk about his figures as well. Lucknow’s BSA Vijay Pratap Singh said that a verification committee has already been formed after taking approval from the DM. Now after verification, the books will be delivered to the schools soon. Apart from this, the process of tender for transportation is also going on. Will complete the process in four-five days. Efforts are made that the books received should reach the schools within maximum 1 week. BSA told that about 10 lakh books have to be delivered to about 2 lakh, 85 thousand students in Lucknow.
Books were not available for all children – BSA
About one lakh books have arrived in the first consignment received the day before. Information is being received that trucks are coming even further. Will keep sending the books as we get it. The BSA recognized that old books were not available for all children, not even our expectation. But every subject is being taught to the students from the books available in the schools. Sudhanshu Mohan, District President of the Primary Teachers Association, says that even after coming to the district, it is difficult for the books to reach the schools before 15 days due to the complexity of the process. He said that he will go to the Education Minister on this issue because without books, children are not able to study.

Minister said that there was a delay due to the election code of conduct
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said that this time the model code of conduct was imposed due to the elections, hence the tender process was delayed. Now the tender process is over. The supply of books has reached in many districts. We have given instructions by holding a meeting with all the officers of the district that the supply of books should not be stocked, but should be delivered to the schools. Within two-three weeks, we will deliver the books to the children. When Sandeep Singh was asked the reason for the delay in the tender, he told that there are many things including technical in the tender. Had to make some changes to it. That’s why it got delayed. All the publications have been directed that the work has to be completed at the earliest. He has promised to complete the supply of books in two-three weeks.
Minister Sandeep Singh said this
Sandeep Singh said that he himself will ensure that the books reach the children before the start of the session. He said that our government will deliver the book to every child. Enrollment is still on and is a continuous process. There will be no child left who does not have the facilities provided by the government. Regarding action against those who play with the future of children, Sandeep Singh said that absolutely responsibility should be fixed. Apart from this, any person due to whom there is a shortage, then we will see. There are also instructions from CM that strictest action should be taken. From now on, we will take care that all the action should be completed in time.
It was a matter of statistics and responsibilities. Now let’s talk about the ground. In the capital Lucknow, the team of ABP Ganga reached Jiamau Upper Primary School and Cabinetganj Primary School. Both these schools are closest to the Chief Minister’s residence. The distance is less than 1 kilometer. New books have not arrived, the crisis of old books has also been seen. Somewhere there is 1 old book for 4-5 children and not even a single old book in the whole class. From teachers to children, the problem was told. Seeing the situation, the picture became clear that how formality and future of children are being played with in the name of education.
