Uttarakhand News: A local court on Monday convicted two real brothers in a case of raping a minor girl four years ago in Uttarakhand’s Pauri district and sentenced them to twenty years each. Pauri Special Sessions Judge (POCSO) Ashish Neta, in addition to imprisonment, imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on one convict and Rs 75,000 on the other. In default of payment of fine, they will have to undergo additional imprisonment.
After the minor’s health deteriorated, the relatives got the investigation done
Pauri Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) Vijender Singh Rawat told here that the case pertains to a village in Dhumakote area where in 2018 the family members of a minor girl took her to the doctor after her health deteriorated. There they came to know that she was six months pregnant. After this, the family members lodged a report in the police station on the basis of the doctor’s report. The victim told the police that she had gone to Manoj’s house in the village to watch TV, during which time he raped her. Based on his statement, the woman sub-inspector of the police station lodged an FIR against the accused Manoj.

When the police sent Manoj’s DNA to the Forensic Science Laboratory, he was not found to be the biological father of the child in the report received from there, but experts expressed the opinion that the biological father of the child could be in the lineage of the accused. After this, the police took DNA samples of 10 family members of Manoj and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory where Manoj’s brother Bharat Singh was matched with the DNA of the child. After this, the victim told in her statement before the magistrate that along with Manoj, her brother Bharat had also raped her.

Both the accused got 20 years in jail
Police have arrested both the accused, they have been sent to jail in judicial custody. During this, the minor girl has also given birth to a child. After hearing both the sides, the Special Sessions Court found Manoj guilty under the POCSO Act and imposed 20 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 and Bharat Singh with 20 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 75,000.
